Websites are still king for marketing in 2025

Spend your marketing budget anywhere you like. Your website will still out-earn all of it.
That's the headline from Webflow's 2025 State of the Website report, which surveyed 500 marketing leaders across the US and Canada. The site isn't a brochure any more. It's the engine.
The website out-earns every other channel
91% of marketing leaders say their website generates more revenue than any other channel, and 62% credit it with over half their revenue. The most efficient teams are twice as likely to name the website their primary revenue source. If it's your biggest earner, it deserves more than an afterthought.
The thing holding teams back: waiting on engineering
The report's sharpest finding isn't about traffic. It's friction. Marketing teams stall because they can't update the site without queuing behind engineering. Every change becomes a ticket. Momentum dies in the backlog.
This is exactly what a properly built Webflow site fixes. We rebuilt The Merging Path so their team launches new landing pages themselves — no developer, no wait — and they sold out a $90k course off the back of it.
Where leaders are pointing in 2025
Marketers told the report they're focused on proving website ROI, experimenting faster, and actually using the tools they already bought instead of piling on more. AI and personalization are climbing the list too — but only for teams whose site can move quickly enough to use them.
Here's the uncomfortable question: if your website is your biggest revenue source but you're still treating it like a brochure — slow to update, stuck in a dev queue — how much is that costing you every month? Closing that gap is the whole point of our custom Webflow website design work, like the migration that lifted McLean Financial Services' traffic by 300%.
